Drama you know is written to perform and read. It could also be a play or a poem that is reappraised to become a drama play. There are many plays that were originally a poem. To name a few, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare took a poem and turned it into a play which has become very productive up to even today. He is the most quoted and honored in English literature even today. His work today is being replayed in many ways from song to plays. His writings are so heart touching but also very dramatic in life and death dramatic performances. Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet are both reacted out today by many people in Shakespeare’s way and in new age. Shakespeare wrote comedy, tragedy, poetry, and history.
Edgar Allen Poe has many poems and plays that are also heart touching or filled with heath stopping horror. The Raven was one that is a bit funny that a bird would do what the raven does and very freighting at the time. The character is horrified not knowing who or what is making the noise. Poe has many more in which are all a bit strange unless you like horror and suspense. Poe’s writings are very detailed in reading you feel just what he wants you to feel like you are there in the scene. Poe writings included Horror fiction, Gothic romance, crime fiction, detective fiction and comedy.
Alfred Hitchcock’s writings are also very horrifying. He leads you in suspense so that your heart beats faster and faster then you stop. His stories are so real you feel every step as you read. Hitchcock is known as the master of suspense. He had many well-known books and movies like Psycho, The Birds just name a sample of 67 titles published. Hitchcock was nominated for 5 Oscars. Another 29 wins & 17 nominations
You can see how a poem, play, or drama script can become either or both. When we describe a situation or a person's behavior as "dramatic," we usually mean that it is intense, exciting, striking. If you are watching a play in a theatre, feelings of tension and anticipation often arise because you are wondering what will happen between the characters on stage. Will they shoot each other? Will they finally confess their undying love for one another? When you are reading a play, you may have similar questions. Will Oedipus figure out that he was the one who caused the plague by killing his father and sleeping with his mother? Will Hamlet successfully avenge his father's murder? Talking about plays, productions, and performances can be difficult, especially since there's so much overlap in the uses of these terms. Although there are some exceptions, usually plays are what is on the written page. A production of a play is a series of performances, each of which may have its own features.
To create a successful play, he or she must also think about the performance—about what will be happening on stage with sets, sounds, actors, etc. The words of a play have their meanings within a larger context—the context of the production. When you watch or read a play, think about how all of the parts work (or could work) together.
